Conference Information

Greetings from the President!

It is time once again to begin making plans to attend the annual Georgia Student Information Systems (GSIS) Users Group Conference.  This year's conference will take place on February 2-3, 2009 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center in beautiful, downtown Savannah.  Registration is now available!  The GSIS conference in 2008 was attended by over 700 users of student information systems from around the state, and we look forward to continued growth.

Whether you are an experienced user of your SIS, are looking for a new SIS, or are in those scary early days of implementation, the GSIS conference is the place to be!  Learn practical advise from experienced USERS who have been where you are!  Gain unique perspectives to common problems!  Enjoy the opportunity to communicate directly with DOE staff on state reporting issues!  Gain tips on usage of common applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook!  And, of course, enjoy your evenings in exciting, downtown Savannah, just a short ferry ride away.

I would also like to strongly encourage each of you to consider presenting at the 2009 conference.  This conference would not be possible without the users who are willing and ready to share their knowledge with others.  If you just don't have the time to prepare for a structured session, consider moderating a round table discussion on a specific topic such as scheduling, attendance, or grade reporting.  Any chance to dialogue with colleagues leads to increased knowledge and improved skills.

I look forward to seeing you in Savannah on February 2-3, 2009!

Sincerely,
Noralee R. Deason, President

P.S.  Register early!  The early bird registration rate of $165.00 applies to payments postmarked by December 19, 2008.
