The objective of the Georgia Student Information Systems (GSIS) Users Group shall be to promote these purposes:

  • To serve as a forum for information exchange regarding the state Student Information System and its use in schools in Georgia.

  • To provide a vehicle for workshops about GSIS user techniques and about GSIS enhancements.

  • To provide a forum for a united voice regarding software development.

  • To provide a vehicle for the exchange of information, ideas, and needs between the end users of the GSIS software, the State Department of Education, and state-approved software vendors.

Greetings from the President!

On behalf of the entire GSIS board, I would like to thank each of you for your attendance at the 2008 GSIS conference and continual support of the organization. I hope you enjoyed the conference and acquired skills that will help you in your profession. Mark your calendars now! We are looking forward to another great conference at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center on February 2-3, 2009.

The annual conference is only made possible by the many volunteers who present on topics of interest from school systems across the state. I hope that each of you will consider presenting or moderating a round-table discussion at next year's conference. Everyone has expertise in at least one area. Please consider sharing your knowledge with others!

Also, feel free to contact any of the board members at any time during the year with concerns or suggestions. Our e-mail addresses are available beneath the Contact Us link at the right. Please do not limit your communications to just matters concerning the conference. We also strive to be an organization that actively promotes the interests of all users of student information systems throughout the state of Georgia.

Few people know that the GSIS conference has begun receiving national attention from other states such as Texas, New Jersey, and Utah. We actually had a gentleman attend this year from the Utah Department of Education to learn how we conduct the conference. The GSIS board looks forward to the continued growth of the organization and to becoming one of the best education technology conferences in the United States! Together, we can make the 2009 conference the best ever!

Sincerely,
Noralee R. Deason, President
Georgia Student Information Systems (GSIS) Users Group
